KUALA LUMPUR: While certain Netizens have criticised actor Norman Hakim and his ex-wife actress Abby Abadi for "failing to bring up" their daughter Marissa Dania Hakim, others have expressed sympathy for the former Gerak Khas stars.
In replies to Norman's Instagram account's latest post which showed a video of him seeing his younger children off to school, Netizens urged fellow Malaysians not to pass judgement on Norman and Abby, and pray that 19-year-old Marissa Dania's secret marriage to her boyfriend Aslam, 25, gets annulled.
One Netizen Liza said: "Norman and Abby have done their best for their children. It is unfortunate this has happened to Marissa. Let's pray that both parents will work together to resolve this with Aslam's family."
Hidayah said: "It is not fair to judge them. It is a test for Norman and Abby, as well as Aslam's first wife Misya Mazlan. I pray that Norman, Abby and Misya will meet up to untangle the mess that Marissa has got herself in."
Imran said: "We should not vent our anger at Norman and Abby. As parents they're very concerned about what has happened to their daughter. Pray that everything will be settled amicably."
Meanwhile, Abby uploaded a brief message on her Instagram account which read, "Fight it with prayers", and Netizens who replied to her also expressed their support.
It was reported yesterday that Aslam's sister-in-law Nadiah Mazlan confirmed that he and Marissa were married in Songkhla, Thailand last Dec 27.
Marissa and Aslam, the father of two children, were reported to have tied the knot while his first wife was performing Umrah.
Last September, there was an uproar on social media when Misya came forward to reveal the alleged story of her husband cheating with Marissa.
However, Aslam and Misya decided to reconcile (rujuk) during the waiting period (idah) of the divorce.
It is learnt that Norman and Abby had met Aslam's family to discuss their daughter's secret marriage, and both families urged the young couple to divorce.
