Penang PERKIM lodge report over plan to sell land

GEORGE TOWN: Penang division Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Malaysia (PERKIM) lodged a police report today against National PERKIM over its alleged plans to sell a plot of land at Jalan Burmah here.

Its secretary Mohamed Ali Idris lodged the police report at Northest district police headquarters here at about 5.30pm.

Ali claimed that the National PERKIM had breach the organisation's standard operating procedure by deciding to sell the said land and a few other lands in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Sabah without informing the respective state divisions.

"They had planned to hold the sale and purchase signing ahead of the executive council meeting and 54th annual general meeting on June 6 at The Kalang Regency in Sabah.

"We believe this is so that they can inform the members that the sale has been concluded with the approval of the executive council," he told reporters after lodging a police report

Ali claimed that they came to know about the said sale, when the executive council meeting agenda was distributed to a Penang executive.

He said the Jalan Burmah land, which previously housed the Institute PERKIM-GOON, was deeded to the organisation by Tunku Abdul Rahman decades ago.
