Video of a boy kidnapped that went viral was taken by his own father

KUALA TERENGGANU: State Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Hamzah today denied that a boy was abducted while being in a car with his mother, on their way a relative’s house in Marang yesterday.

Some passer-by took video of the event and later shared the video on social media platform, Facebook. The video of the boy being taken away went viral.

Abdul Aziz said the three-year-old boy was taken away by his own father, a Brunei citizen.

The incident took place at Jalan Bukit Kor at 7.30am, where the 35-year-old mother's car was hit and blocked by an oncoming car drove by her husband's friend.

"A war of words broke out between them before the suspect arrived in another car and took away the boy before fleeing the scene," he said adding that the mother later lodged a report at the Marang police station.

He said police are investigating the case and are looking for the husband to assist with the investigation.
