JITRA: A 26-year-old woman died when the car she was driving skidded and crashed into a tree, before plunging into the waters at Jalan Sungai Korok this morning.
In the 5.20am incident, the victim, identified as Norshuhada Mansor, was driving alone from Sungai Korok towards Pekan Jitra before she lost control and skidded to the right of the road shoulder before hitting a tree.
Kubang Pasu district police chief Superintendent Abd Rahim Abdullah said the impact of the crash caused the car to split into two and then plunge into the water.
He said the victim, who worked as a phone salesman, died at the scene.
"The body has been sent to Jitra Hospital for a post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
