3 students suffer burns when their hostel caught fire

GURUN: Three religious school students aged between 10 and 15, suffered burns on their heads, body and legs when their hostel caught fire early this morning.

Guar Chempedak Fire and Rescue Department operation chief Safuwan Mad Saad said they received a distress call at about 3.06am and 15 firemen from the department were dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival, we found the fire had spread from the tent located near the hostel which was made from canvas, wood and zinc.

"The pupils were rushed to the Yan Hospital before being transferred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital this morning," he said when contacted.

The tent was used as a study place for the pupils.
