KUALA LUMPUR: A mechanic claimed trial to outraging the modesty of a four-year-old female kindergarten student four months ago.
Mohd Hafiza Wan Mohd Aris was charged at the magistrate's court today with sexually-molesting the girl at the kindergarten's office at Bandar Tasik Selatan here between 8am and 10pm on April 13.
The 38-year-old, who was apprehended two days after the alleged incident, may be jailed up to 10 years, fined, whipped, or sentenced to two of the three penalties if found guilty under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
Magistrate Muhamad Faizal Ismail granted RM5,000 bail with one surety and ordered the accused to stay away from prosecution witnesses.
Faizal set Aug 24 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor N. Joy Jothi prosecuted while Hafiza was unrepresented.
