Afgan is all set for his biggest solo concert in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian singer Afgan has never considered himself to be in the same league as the more popular singers from the republic.

He said: “I’ve never put myself in the same class as other Indonesian big acts who have a huge following here in Malaysia such as Kris Dayanti and Rossa.

“Honestly, I don’t even know the ticket prices for my solo concert here. It is managed by the organisers,” he said at a Press conference held at E&O Residences here, to announce his upcoming concert Suara Hati Afgan, scheduled to take place at Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Sept 18.

Afgan, whose real name is Afgansyah Reza, said this when pressed by the media inquiring about the pricy ticket prices, with the most expensive selling at RM855 a pop (which include a goodie bag containing his CD and a t-shirt; as well as a special meet-and-greet session with him).

According to the 26-year-old artiste, ticket prices for his upcoming concert are paralleled to that of his debut solo concert Dari Hati Agan, held in Indonesia last February.

“I am not aware the rates for concert tickets here but in Indonesia, the most expensive ones were around RM800 too and they were all sold out,” he said.

Afgan said that he would go all out to give an energetic performance at his concert here.

“My focus is only on giving my best performance and hope that audience will not be disappointed,” he said, adding that, on the concert night, he would be performing 23 songs including tunes by Malaysian singers.

Fans can expect to be entertained with his string of hits like Jodoh Pasti Bertemu, Pada Mu Ku Bersujud, Bukan Cinta Biasa, Rasa Terindah, as well as his latest upbeat single Knock Me Out.

The singer who rose to fame with the hit Terima Kasih Cinta will also cover Ku Mohon (sung by Datuk Sheila Majid).

“We have been planning to hold this concert since October last year. And I am excited and grateful that this concert will be realised,” he said.

The soulful crooner is also bringing in Rossa to share the stage with him. “I persuaded her to join in since we have a duet called Kamu Yang Ku Tunggu,” said the Afgan who clinched Best Solo Male Vocalist award at the 2009 Anugerah Musik Indonesia.

He is also hopeful that Sheila would be a guest performer at his concert.

“I’m her biggest fan. I grew up listening to her music and she’s definitely an inspiration. We are still waiting for her nod,” he said.

Afgan’s latest song Knock Me Out composed by Singaporean singer-songwriter Taufik Batisah, is one of the four singles from the upcoming yet-to-be-titled album which will be released in October. His last album was L1ve To Love, Love To L1ve, released in 2013.

“Knock Me Out has English and Indonesian lyrics. I think it is more fun this way,” said Afgan, who sits on the judging panel X Factor Indonesia.

Tickets to the Konsert Suara Hati Afgan concert are priced between RM165 and RM855, and are available at www.myticket.asia.
