Ice appeared on the top of Mount Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU: An ice formation has developed at the top of Mount Kinabalu yesterday, a rare but natural phenomenon due to the colder weather up at the mountain.

Sabah Parks director Dr Jamili Nais in confirming this, however said the ice has melted as of today.

"I learnt about it from my officers. This can happen whenever the temperature gets too cold up there and it was raining ice pellets yesterday.

"Last year there was a report of similar condition but that was more towards a snowy effect," he said when contacted.

Pictures of the freezing rain was said to be taken by a porter yesterday who shared it with others via social media WhatsApp.
