Najwa Mahiaddin opens up [VIDEO]

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer Najwa Mahiaddin never talks about her interracial marriage to Idris Koh Keng Hui.

But for the first time ever, the award-winning singer is opening up about the man in her life, whom she wed last March.

Their story is beautifully co-written by the singer herself and fellow songwriter Ali Aiman, in her brand new single, Sama Sahaja.

"Fans are all aware about my marriage. I have never kept it a secret. It's just that I have never publicly talked or discussed about it," said Najwa.

The 29-year-old singer-song writer said Sama Saja was originally written for the Ikal Mayang project last March.

"It had 'Similarities' as the theme. And when I received the request to write the song for Ikal Mayang, I was inspired to write about how Idris and I share a lot of things in common. I was ready to open up a little about us in Sama Saja. "Although it was difficult to do it at first, but I realised that the messages that I wanted to highlight could apply to everyone from all walks of life, not just for couples," said Najwa when met after the launch of her single held at Publika yesterday.

Known to be a very private person, she also filmed the music video for the tune at the event. It is expected to be released end of this month.

Soon, Najwa will return to the studio to record her new album, expected for release next year.

The singer with the soulful vocals got her big break in 2011 when she released her debut album Innocent Soul, clinching the Best English Song (for Got To Go) award and Best New Artiste title at the Anugerah Industri Muzik the same year.

Last year, she released Aurora, a digitally-released five-track EP.
