SUPP, UPP, SPDP and Teras urged to compromise or use own logos

SIBU: Two Sarawak state Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties and their splinter parties must resolve their differences immediately before the 11th state general elections (PRN11), said Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

If they fail to compromise, they cannot use the BN logo during the elections.

“I will only allow the party logo to be used by my team members, like the Prime Minister said. Whoever wants to go against that, it is up to them, but they cannot use the BN logo, they have to use their own symbols,” Adenan said.

He added that he had advised the parties to compromise when they do not get all the seats they want.

Adenan was speaking to reporters after launching the 11th Sarawak General Elections Machinery Programme for Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in Zone 10 which encompasses the Nangka, Pelawan, Bukit Assek, Dudong and Bawang Assan state constituencies, here today.

He was referring to the component parties Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and its splinter party United People’s Party (UPP) as well as the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras).

These parties have yet to resolve their differences over the seats to be contested in the state election.

He also reminded PBB members in Sibu to maintain their unity to ensure a big victory for the party not just by winning the contested seats but also by helping component parties win seats that have fallen to the opposition in the last election.

He said although the Bumiputera were the minority in Sibu, they could determine whether a candidate wins or not.

Also present at the event were Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Datuk Amar Mohammad Asfia Awang Nassar and Nangka State Assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapa’ee.
