Six including teenager arrested for vandalising Kedah football fans' bus [VIDEO]

GEORGE TOWN: Police today arrested six motorists, including a 16-year-old, for allegedly vandalising a bus ferrying Kedah football supporters.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Alatrash Wahid said the 11.30pm incident happened following a Malaysia Super League match between Penang and Kedah.

He said police have identified 10 motorists who threw stones towards the moving coach and smashed its windscreen, as the vehicle left the city stadium along Jalan Datuk Keramat.

"The motorcyclists had followed the coach closely and rode to its side before they struck.

"The group threw the rocks and hit the vehicle. The objects shattered the side windscreen of the coach and dented the body of the vehicle," Mior told a press conference here.

Two rocks were recovered from the scene.

Mior said two civil servants were among the six arrested. They are all aged between 16 and 40.

He said initial investigation showed that football fans from rival teams had exchanged insults which escalated the incident.

The football match ended with Penang beating Kedah 3-2.

The six suspects will be remanded at the magistrate's court tomorrow.
