More NGOs, individuals, lodge police reports against Bersih 5

SUBANG JAYA: A number of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and private individuals lodged police reports on the upcoming Bersih 5 street rally today.

The reports were made between 3pm and 5pm at the district police headquarters here.

Puchong Senior Citizens and Veterans Welfare Association representative Izham Ishak said the association is worried that the rally will turn into chaos and affect those who plan to spend time with their families in the city centre during the rally, which is planned for Nov 19.

"The rally will affect the public order. We hear even the Red Shirt group has planned to hold a rally at the same time to counter Bersih's.

"Anything could happen if Bersih supporters bump into the Red Shirts. Both sides will start provoking each other and chaos will ensue," said Izham, who's also calling on the Red Shirt group to cancel their rally.

Subang Jaya Traders Association representative C Mariappan said the rally will disrupt businesses in the city centre.

"The public will avoid entering the city centre, which will result in businesses losing customers on the day the rally takes place.

"The rally will restrict the movement of those doing business. I urge the organisers to cancel the rally as it will not benefit the public."

Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah said the rally is being organised to call for institutional reforms and to highlight issues pertaining to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
