JOHOR BARU: A two-year-old boy was killed when he was run over by a vehicle after falling out of the rear seat of his parents' car in Ulu Tiram, near here last night.
Goh Hao Zheng Jayden died from severe head injuries while he was being rushed to hospital in the 8.30pm incident in Jalan Lebuh Cemerlang.
He was said to be sitting in the back seat of the car with his father driving and mother in the front passenger seat.
Seri Alam district police chief Superintendent Jokhiri Abd Aziz said the incident happened when the car Goh was in made a U-turn at the stretch. The car was heading towards Plentong from Taman Desa Cemerlang.
"When making the U-turn, the back door of the car opened and this led to the victim falling out of the car. At the same time, another vehicle which was tailing behind could not avoid the victim in time and ran over him when he fell in the middle of the road.
"The victim sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead en route to the Sultan Ismail Hospital." he said in a statement.
