Police detain 25 over mob killing of 5 Myanmar workers

SERDANG: A total of 25 men have been arrested to facilitate investigation into the murder of five Myanmar workers at the Seri Serdang industrial area, Seri Kembangan, on Jan 6.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmad said the arrests were made in stages following a large brawl which led to the killings.

Those arrested comprised locals, Myanmar and Rohingnyas in their 20s and 50s.

Fadzil added, however, that several of the men have since been released on bail.

"The case is still being investigated, but it will be concluded (soon). We will inform (you of) any updates," he told reporters.

When asked on the motive behind the incident, Ramli said it is still being established.
