GMI student killed in crash before start of practical training

KEMAMAN: A 21-year-old student was killed when his motorcycle crashed into two cars near Rantau Petronas, in Kerteh here on Monday night.

A police spokesman said the victim, Ahmad Aliff Izzuddin Mohd Zuki, from Manir, Kuala Terengganu, suffered serious head and body injuries and died on the spot in the 9pm incident.

The German-Malaysia Institute student was said to have grazed a car, lost control of his machine and hit the second vehicle.

"Aliff was heading to Mesra Mall, Kemasik, from his house before he was met with the accident at KM118 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan," he said.

Aliff's friend, Muhammad Shafiq Kamal, 21, said the victim was supposed to meet him for dinner at the mall to discuss their practical training at an oil and gas company.

"We are to discuss about looking for a house nearer to the company located in Paka, Dungun," he said, adding that both of them were supposed to start training on Tuesday morning.

"It seems that the date that we are supposed to enroll for our practical has turned into his funeral date," he said.

Meanwhile, district police chief Superintendant Mohd Said Ibrahim said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing death.
