SANDAKAN: Police have arrested a foreigner in connection with the death of a woman in a lodging house at Jalan Dua, here.

The man in his 50s was picked up at the town area at about 6pm to facilitate investigation.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin confirmed the arrest, adding that police are probing the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He also confirmed that the victim, who appeared to be in her 20s, was found lying dead on the bed with a pillow on her face.

“Her neck was also wrapped in a towel. She was dressed in dark clothes and long red underwear. The victim had her shoes on as well,” he said, adding police did not find any documentation of identity on the woman.
