KOTA TINGGI: Police have arrested a man and a woman yesterday to facilitate investigations into the dumping of a newly born baby at an orchard near here.
Kota Tinggi police chief Superintendant Ashmon Bajah said the 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were picked up after police received a report from Kota Tinggi Hospital that a woman had been admitted there for post natal bleeding.
"Further checks revealed that she had given birth but she claimed the baby had died. With the man's help, she buried the baby's remains at an orchard near here," he said.
Ashmon said police were still investigating to verify the relationship between the two suspects and the baby's gender.
"The case is investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 318 of the same act for concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body." he said.
