2 robbers make away with RM1.4 million jewellery

SUNGAI PETANI: Two robbers, one of them armed with a pistol, fled with RM1.4 million heist from a jewellery shop at Jalan Dewa here today.

The men wearing helmets with dark visors entered the premises at 1.45pm when one worker was manning the shop.

Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Saifi Abdul Hamid said one of the suspects pointed a pistol at the worker and ordered him to take out eight trays of gold jewellery from the display counter.

He said the loot were then stashed in two bags and the men fled the scene on a motorcycle towards Jalan Petri.

“We are identifying them from the close circuit television recording from the shop,” he said in a statement.

He said the robbery was the second incident at the premises since it was opened 28 years ago.
