ALOR SETAR: Kedah Barisan Nasional (BN) has lodged a police report after rotten eggs were thrown on a stage where a ceramah was to be held at Taman Derga Jaya in Pokok Sena.
Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmd Bashah Md Hanipah, state Umno Information chief Datuk Othman Abdul and several other BN leaders were expected to speak there this evening.
State BN secretary Datuk Md Rozai Shafian said the incident was believe to have occurred early this morning after the stage for the ‘Menolak Pakatan Hipokrasi’ ceramah was erected yesterday.
“Several rotten eggs were thrown on the carpet which was placed on the stage, leaving a foul stench.
“We had to change the carpet to ensure tonight's ceramah goes according to plan,” he said in a statement.
He said a police report was lodged by state Umno Information secretary Sohaimi Zainal Abidin at 1pm today at the Kota Setar district police headquarters.
He said the state Umno viewed the incident seriously and described it as an attempt to sabotage the event.
He said security at all BN premises, offices and operation centres had been beefed up following the incident.
