Irishman's killer has left country, say Penang police

GEORGE TOWN: Police believed that the man responsible for the killing of an Irishman at a condominium unit at Bangunan MBF, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, near here on Monday, has left the country.

Penang police chief Datuk T. Narenasagaran confirmed they had identified the suspect but checks revealed he had left the country.

“We are now working with Interpol to locate the suspect,” he said.

Brian Patrick O’Reilly, 50, was found murdered in his condominium unit with stab and slash wounds on his body on Monday evening.

Police believed the motive for the killing was revenge, based on a handwritten note they found near his body.

The victim, an information technology manager, was believed to have been hit with a pot and frying pan before he was stabbed in the stomach and slashed in the neck.

Police said O’Reilly had only moved into the condominium unit on Feb 4.
