MACC lodges police report

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has lodged a police report over complaints that one of their officers threatened an individual during the course of investigations.

MACC said the police report was made to deny the allegations of the individual who claimed he was threatened during a probe linked to the Macau Scam recently.

"The said individual made a police report on the matter two months after he was released from MACC remand. A copy of the report has been shared by certain parties which had also tainted the good name of the MACC.

"We urge the police to conduct investigations against the false report. MACC will not protect any party should the claims on what the MACC officer had done was true," said MACC in a statement today.

MACC added that should the report turn out to be false, the individual must be brought to justice.
