PENAMPANG: Police detained a woman after she damaged several vehicles parked in front of Plaza 333 here, on Sunday.
A video clip of the incident, which went viral on Facebook, shows the woman swinging what appears to be a pipe rod at the vehicles.
Those who witnessed the incident immediately acted to stop her before police arrived at the scene and took her into custody.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Haris said police received a report on the incident at 7.42pm.
Initial investigations revealed that the woman might be mentally challenged, he said.
"The woman has been referred to the Bukit Padang Hospital," said Mohd Haris when contacted.
Mohd Haris said three people, believed to be the owners of the damaged vehicles, had been identified and two of them had lodged police reports.
"Based on their statements, all victims do not want any action to be taken against the woman due to her mental issues. They lodged police reports for insurance claims."
