Police looking for driver who used police siren

SERDANG: Police are looking for the driver of a Proton Saga who used a siren and drove recklessly and dangerously along Jalan Serdang Perdana in Seri Kembangan here on Monday (Oct 2).

Serdang district police chief, Assistant Commissioner A A Anbalagan, said that they detected a 48-second video recording showing a car being driven recklessly and dangerously that went viral on social media.

"Initial investigations carried out revealed that the incident took place on Monday (Oct 2) after which the video went viral on social media today (yesterday)," he said in a statement.

Anbalagan said that investigations are ongoing and efforts are underway to locate the driver and an investigation paper has already been opened under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"If found guilty, the punishment that awaits the culprit is a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of no less than RM5,000 and not more than RM15,000," he said
