Suspect arrested in connection with Pastor Koh abduction

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that a suspect was arrested last week in connection with the abduction of Pastor Raymond Koh.

The breakthrough was announced by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar. However, he did not provide any details of the suspect.

He also brushed off allegations that police have closed the case.

"In the intitial stage, the investigations were hindered by the widespread media coverage of the case.

"But we did not close the case. The investigations are still ongoing," he told a press conference after officiating a police blood donation programme in conjunction with the 210th Police Day at Bukit Aman today.

Asked on why three activists had been called to provide their statements, Khalid said the individuals had claimed that enforcement agencies were involved in Koh's abduction.

"They were released after their statements were recorded."

It has been 100 days since Koh, 62, was abducted by a group of masked men less than 100 metres from the Police Housing Complex in SS4, Kelana Jaya, on the morning of Feb 13.

Video footage later emerged showing what appeared to be a well-executed plan involving seven vehicles and at least 12 individuals.

The whole incident takes place in less than a minute, with all vehicles, including Koh’s car, seen driving away.

Police have since set up a special taskforce to investigate the case.
