Indonesian girl stabbed, beaten up - boyfriend and employer arrested

KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested an Indonesian who, in a fit of jealousy, stabbed and beat his girlfriend here.

In their investigation, police were also led to the girl’s employer for hiring her illegally as she had no valid travel documents two days ago.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said all three will be detained for further investigations.

Investigations revealed the 20-year-old Indonesian had allegedly beat up and stabbed his girlfriend at Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens in Luyang.

The man, who works as a cook in Bukit Padang nearby, was believed to be drunk when he assaulted the 16-year-old girl at 3.25pm.

“The couple appeared to have argued, sparked by jealousy. At the time of the incident, the victim’s boyfriend was under the influence of alcohol.

“The public managed to apprehend the man and handed him over to the police who rushed to the scene after alerted about the assault,” he said.

“The girl’s employer took her to the hospital, where she received five stitches at the back of her head and three stitches on her neck,” Chandra said.

A knife was also seized, he said adding the man will be held further for investigations for causing hurt with a weapon.

The girl and her employer, a 35-year-old local, has been handed over to the Immigration department for investigations.
