Van driver with no valid licence arrested after fatal accident with motorcycle

SHAH ALAM: A motorcyclist was killed when he was involved in a collision with a van in Jalan Persiaran Tebar Layar near the U8 Industrial Area in Bukit Jelutong this morning.

Anuah Alang, a 35-year-old lorry attendant from Perak was dragged about 50m in the 8.05am incident and died at the scene.

Police later arrested the driver of the van, which belonged to a catering company when checks revealed that he did not have a valid driving licence.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said the 28-year-old van driver not only did not have a Goods Driving Licence, which is required of anyone driving a commercial vehicle, but his regular driving licence was also expired.

“He is being investigated undePDRMr Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving,” he said.
