ALOR STAR: News of the passing of Securiforce Sdn Bhd Group executive chairman and former Kedah Wanita Umno chief Datuk Dr Maznah Hamid has shocked many who respected and loved the renowned entrepreneur.
Kedah Wanita Umno chief Datuk Sharifah Maznah Syed Kassim Barakbah said Maznah’s passing is a great loss to Kedah Umno.
Sharifah, who succeeded Maznah as the state Wanita chief two years ago, said the late Iron Lady was an exemplary leader to the wing.
She said Maznah had contributed immensely to the wing’s movement and women development in Kedah.
“I have known her for 17 years and she was always willing to share her ideas and input, to strengthen the party.
“She also initiated many programmes to help women in the state to improve themselves,” she said.
Jerlun Umno acting chief Datuk Abu Hassan Sarif also described Maznah’s death as a shock to the division.
He expressed his deepest condolences to the Iron Lady’s family on behalf of the Jerlun Umno division.
“She was the Jerlun Wanita chief for 22 years and during that time she has contributed a lot for the women and the people in Jerlun, at large.
“It is a great loss to us and she will be missed by the people here,” he said.
Maznah passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Wednesday at 6pm while receiving treatment after a heart surgery.
She underwent a surgery last Friday and was reported to be in stable condition.
Maznah’s remains will be taken to her home in Ukay Heights, Ampang at 10pm tonight.
She will be buried at Taman Raudhatul Sakinah Cemetery in Taman Selasih, Kuala Lumpur after Asar prayer tomorrow.
