(Latest) Fifteen houses razed to the ground in Kampung Baru fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Fifteen houses were gutted down by a morning fire at Lorong Raja Muda Enam, Kampung Baru.

No casualties were reported in the 8am fire.

City Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department was alerted on the fire at 9.39am.

"The situation was under control at 10.12am and the fire was doused at 11.14am.

"Fifteen houses were destroyed in the incident, however all residents were safe.

Investigations are on-going to determine the cause of the fire," he said.

Meanwhile, Titiwangsa member of parliament, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said he would seek assistance from Kuala Lumpur City Council to allocate temporary houses for the victims while they rebuild their homes.

Victim, Jantan Razak, 70 said he was informed that his house had caught fire around 9am.

"When I arrived, my house was already destroyed by the blaze.

"My tenant had went out to work and the fire was believed to have started next door," he said when met at scene.
