BINTULU: Two women were killed when the car they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a tree in Jalan Sultan Iskandar here this morning.
Cristianda Cymbah Nuli, 23, who was behind the wheel, died on the spot during the 2am mishap.
Her friend, Mastina Juntin, 22, who sustained severe injuries on her head was pronounced dead at the emergency unit of the Bintulu Hospital here.
State Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu said the victims were heading towards to city from Medan Jaya near here.
“We believed the car driver lost control of her vehicle and smashed into the tree by the road side.
“Investigation is on-going to determine the actual cause of accident,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
