Driver of stolen car loses control during police chase, overturns

RAWANG: The driver of a car, in his bid to escape from police, lost control of his vehicle which overturned near Rawang toll plaza early this morning.

The 30-year-old man, believed to be a car thief, sped off in his Perodua Kancil stolen from Raub, Pahang, when pursued by a police team.

Gombak district deputy police chief Superintendent Tay Kong Seng said the suspect who was shocked with the appearance of the police accelerated before his car flipped over.

"Checks on the car revealed it was a missing car in Raub. Following the first arrest, we detained another three men, aged 24 and 27, in the district.

"Initial investigation showed that the trio are linked to a car theft syndicate in the Klang Valley. We also found other cars and motorcycles following the arrest," he said.

Tay said all suspects were taken to district police headquarters for further action.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft.
