Khalid resigns as Prasarana group chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today confirmed that he is no longer the group chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd.

Barely a year after he was appointed to head Prasarana, Khalid told Sin Chew Daily today that he submitted his resignation letter on July 17.

He however did not disclose the reason for his resignation, saying only that he was now 'unemployed'.

After he retired from the police force last year, Khalid was appointed as group chairman in September to replace Tan Sri Ismail Adam, whose contract ended Aug 31, 2017.

Then Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said Khalid would continue Prasarana's aim to build and provide world-class public transportation services as well as increase the use of public transport.
