KUANTAN: A mechanic was killed after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a pony at KM89 of Jalan Merapoh - Kuala Lipis on Thursday night.
Police said Muhamad Shukri Che Aris, 22, from Kampung Persit Merapoh, Gua Musang died on the spot from severe head and body injuries.
Lipis police chief Superintendent Azly Mohd Noor said the victim, who was riding a Yamaha 125ZR, was on his to Merapoh from Kuala Lipis when he failed to notice a pony appearing in front of him and ended up crashing into it.
"The victim could not see the pony because the area was dark.
"He was thrown off his machine for several meters and died on the spot.
“The pony was also killed in the accident," he said.
Azly added that checks showed the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
"His remains has been taken to Kuala Lipis Hospital for post-mortem.
“We are also looking for the owner of the pony to assist in our investigations." he said.
