Traffic report: Traffic building up on NSE, KL-Karak highway

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic has begun building up on major highways and expressways in the peninsula as Malaysians return en masse to the Klang Valley after the long Hari Raya Aidilfitri break.

A Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) spokesman said that traffic has begun to slow on the North-South Expressway (NSE) and KL-Karak highway.

“In the north, there is traffic congestion from Prai to Juru and Jawi to Alor Pongsu due to an accident; from R&R Bukit Gantang to Bukit Berapit; from R&R Sungai Perak to the Menora Tunnel; from Ipoh to Simpang Pulai, from Gua Tempurung to Tapah; and from Sungkai to Slim River.

“Currently, traffic in the south is smooth. The only congestion is at the Sedenak to Ayer Hitam stretch,” he added.

He also said that traffic is slow mowing at several areas along the KL-Karak highway.

“The Gombak plaza toll; Raub; Bentong; and Ulu Dong are congested. We expect the traffic volume at the KL-Karak highway to gradually increase after lunch time.”
