KUANTAN: The three family members who were killed in a fire at Perkampungan Sungai Isap here this morning have been identified while four other family members are receiving treatment for burn injuries at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital.
Those killed have been identified as Sharifah Azlina Syed Kassim, 37, Muhamad Haikal Hakimi Hairul, 11, and Mohamad Adam Daniel Hairul, 7.
The injured are Sharifah Azlina's husband Hairol Khalid, 38, her brother Syed Azman Syed Kassim, 25, his wife Norazilah Abdullah, 23, and Norazilah's sister Nor Syawalina Abdullah, 19.
Syed Azman's son Muhammad Alif Asyraf, 6, meanwhile escaped unhurt in the 7.45am fire, and is now under the care of relatives.
State Fire and Rescue Department deputy director Mohd Sani Hairul said all victims were staying in one house and the unit was completely destroyed in the fire.
“The charred remains of the victims were found in two bedrooms. The other five victims were rescued by neighbours.
“Two houses were completely razed while two other units had minor damages,” he said, adding that the department was still investigating the cause of the fire.
