Robbers blast open three Tg Malim ATMs, escape with RM300,000

TANJUNG MALIM: Robbers blasted open three Auto-Teller Machines (ATMs) at a bank at Jalan Haji Mustafa Raja Kamala here today, but only managed to escape with RM300,000 taken from one of them.

Muallim police chief Superintendent Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said that the incident occurred at about 6.30am.

He said that based on initial investigations, the bank had on Sunday evening loaded RM300,000 into the ATM machine which was blown open.

“Two other ATMs and a CDM (cash deposit machine) were only damaged in the blast, which also shattered the glass panels of the room where the machines are kept.

“There were also traces of chemicals in the parking lot, believed to be explosive substances. We also found three drops of blood that are likely due to injury to one of the suspects during the explosion,” Wan Kamarul added.

However, he said that the amount of blood taken for testing by the Forensics Unit at the Ipoh police headquarters has not been ascertained. – Bernama
