Negri Sembilan govt lends support to Nora Anne SAR team

NILAI: The state government today reached out to the search and rescue (SAR) operations team to offer moral support in their search for missing Irish teen, Nora Anne Quoirin.

Representing the state government, Seremban Member of Parliament Anthony Loke and several exco members visited the SAR operations team’s base and distributed food packs to the team.

“We can see their commitment, as even after nine days, they are continuing with their operations. Even yesterday, when it was Hari Raya Aidiladha, they still continued their mission.

“In fact, the police had beefed up their strength to 353 personnel and on our part, we would like to show our moral support by contributing food packs to the SAR team,” said Loke when met at the SAR base here, today.

He said he was also briefed by the SAR team on the operations, and toured the resort where the 15-year-old was last seen.

He added that he hopes Malaysians will continue to trust in the SAR operations team and give them their full support.

Loke, however, did not visit the Quoirin family, as he was advised against doing so by the authorities.

“I understand that the family are in an emotional state and we do not want to add to the pressure they are already facing.

“Most importantly, we just hope that the operations will be successful and that the missing victim will be found,” he said.

Nora Anne, who has learning disabilities, mysteriously disappeared from the resort where her family had checked in for a two-week holiday.

She is believed to have climbed out the window from the unit her family was staying in and wandered off.

Her family, however, dispute this – saying that she had never wandered off or got lost when they visited other destinations in Asia and many European countries.

They added that although Nora Anne likes to walk with the family, she has limited balance and struggles with coordination.
