Three head Penang's honours list, 1,380 to receive awards [NSTTV]

GEORGE TOWN: Three people head the state's honours list in conjunction with Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak's 73rd birthday.

Yusuf Taiyoob Sdn Bhd executive chairman Datuk Seri Yusuf Taiyoob, Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association president Datuk Seri Wong Siew Hai and former Takaful Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan Kamil will receive the second highest award, the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN), which carries the title "Datuk Seri".

The three are among 1,380 recipients at this year's state honours.

Penang State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang said Fuzi had agreed to confer 159 state awards this year, involving the DPPN, Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN), Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (DMPN) and Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN).

"The list of recipients of state awards that carry the titles Datuk Seri and Datuk will be gazetted after the ceremony.

"The number of award recipients is the highest since 2018."

A total of 21 people will receive the DGPN, which also carries the title "Datuk Seri".

Eighteen people will receive the DMPN and 117 will receive the DSPN, both of which carry the title "Datuk".

A total of 107 people will receive the Darjah Johan Negeri, 19 will receive the Bintang Cemerlang Negeri, 197 will receive the Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji, 333 will receive the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian, 536 will receive the Pingat Jasa Masyarakat and 29 will receive the Pingat Bakti Setia.

Notable people who will receive state awards include Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin (DGPN), former state secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus (DGPN), Securities Commission executive chairman Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin (DGPN), former Penang Hospital forensic pathologist Associate Professor Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh Jeswant Singh (DGPN), Penang Water Supply Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa (DGPN) and former Seberang Prai City Council mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud (DGPN).

Law said this year's investiture would be divided into four sessions — Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday — at Dewan Sri Pinang here.

He said the first session would involve 193 recipients, the second would involve 399, the third would involve 391 and the fourth would involve 398.

Fuzi celebrated his official birthday on July 7.
