Indian national, woman killed after car crashes into container lorry

KUALA LUMPUR: An Indian national and a local woman were killed after the Perodua Myvi they were travelling in crashed into the rear of a container lorry parked on the shoulder of Jalan Wawasan in Bandar Baru Ampang, early this morning.

The deceased were identified as 33-year-old Venkatachalam and Malaysian woman, M Thevamalar, 42.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director, Norazam Khamis said the department received a call at 3.04am and arrived at the scene some six minutes later.

He said 10 officers and members from the Ampang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were rushed to the scene of the incident.

"Initial report was received of an accident involving a Myvi car driven by the victim having struck the rear of the container lorry.

"The victims who were stuck in the front compartment of the car suffered serious injuries and were extricated by the fire brigade at 3.50am before being confirmed dead by the medical team," he said in a statement today.

Norazam said the victims' remains were handed over to the police for further action.
