The body of 65-year-old motorcyclist found in a monsoon drain after losing control

JOHOR BARU: A 65-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he is believed to have lost control of his motorbike, causing him to fall face-down into a monsoon drain at KM10 of the Pasir Gudang-Perling highway here yesterday.

The victim, identified as Sakaria Salih, was riding alone on the left side of the highway, near a petrol station towards Pasir Gudang, when the 8.40pm incident occurred.

Johor Baru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the victim's body was found in the drain by passers-by who alerted the police, while the motorbike was by the road shoulders.

"The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"It is believed there are no elements of foul play unless proven otherwise… investigations are still ongoing. Witnesses are urged to come forward with information to facilitate investigations," he said.
