SEDC extends Hari Raya support to underprivileged children in Sarawak

KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) celebrated the spirit of Ramadan by extending its support to underprivileged children at the Datuk Amar Hajah Laila Taib Welfare Complex in Kuching, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

During a ceremony held on Thursday, 84 children were the recipients of duit raya and school supplies.

The event was graced by the presence of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang.

The ceremony commenced with an official exchange of letters signifying the collaboration between SEDC and the Tabung Baitumal Sarawak, symbolising a strengthened partnership and commitment to social welfare.

Highlighting the occasion was SEDC's contribution of RM600,000 as business zakat to Tabung Baitumal Sarawak, reflecting the corporation's dedication to fulfilling its zakat obligations and supporting community welfare programs.

Abang Johari and his wife personally handed over the duit raya and school supplies to the children, ensuring a memorable and meaningful Ramadan for the young beneficiaries at the welfare complex.
