JOHOR BARU: A 24-second footage of a man choking a woman in a shopping complex here garnered numerous reactions, yet there were no police reports lodged at press time.
The video uploaded on X by @MalaysiaViralMall recorded a man on top of a woman choking her while both of them were on the floor of the shopping complex believed to be in Tebrau.
It is believed that the two were a married couple.
However, the location of the shopping complex could not be confirmed as the New Straits Times' attempts to contact the mall's management were futile.
A check with the police revealed that no police report has been lodged so far.
The footage believed to have been recorded by the mall's patrons showed a baby stroller nearby while the man was choking the woman.
The woman was seen struggling for a few seconds, which led to one of his shoes coming off; he stopped only then.
The woman was heard in the footage's audio shouting: "He wants to kill me. The crazy old man is killing me."
She stood up and threw the man's shoe a few metres away. As he went to retrieve it, the woman pushed the stroller and walked away while the man headed towards her direction after putting on his shoes.
Several patrons were in the vicinity, including fit-looking men, but they did not render any help nor made attempts to intervene.
