#NSTviral: Shock for homeowner as he sees collapsed gatepost was filled with rubbish instead of cement or bricks

KUALA LUMPUR: A man took to social media to express his concern upon discovering that his gatepost, which had collapsed, was filled with rubbish.

In a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter) by @sidchan, an image showed the gatepost filled with crumpled cement bags and broken tiles instead of cement or bricks.

The image he posted, however, showed that the cement layer looked thin, causing it to collapse, perhaps.

"To all developers across Malaysia, if you want to maximise profits, please avoid such practices.

"It inconveniences the buyers, as the homeowner was almost hit by that fence.

"The fence posts are filled with rubbish! This is in Taman Putrimas Kluang, Johor," he said.

Several users shared their experiences and also provided advice on the next step to claim as well as addressing this issue with the developer.

User @bienaaaa__ advised: "If you are buying a new under-construction house, please check for defects in every corner of your house right after receiving it. Claim any defects from the developer within the 2-year defect liability period. Avoid doing any renovations during this time to avoid voiding the warranty."

Another X user, @syamule shared a tip: "From my experience inspecting houses, try tapping on the walls and pillars if possible. You can differentiate between solid pillars or walls that go deep inside and those that are just on the surface."

Meanwhile, @izsmin commented: "This is a new housing estate because I have handled many loans for this Putrimas estate project. I feel sorry for the buyers because the houses are not cheap. The cheapest one is RM225,000, and the monthly payment is around RM1,300."

User @RekaDigital expressed concern, saying: "This is highly irresponsible. Developers need to be accountable for the quality of the houses provided to customers. Are there any actions that authorities can take to address this issue?"
