Selangor BN ready for GE14

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Barisan Nasional is geared up to face the 14th General Election (GE14) should Parliament be dissolved by the end of the month or in early April.

State Umno liaison committee deputy chief Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan said preparations for GE14 were well underway and is according to plan thus far.

Nadzari, who is also Batang Kali member of parliament said a dry run will be carried out on March 17 at district polling centres in in the state.

This, he said, was to ensure the state party’s election machinery is ready for the election.

“We have a strong machinery. The dry run will allow us to look at their overall effectiveness and check their efficiencies.

“We have started mobilising our machinery and three audits have been conducted on them to date. We want to ensure everything goes according to plan and runs smoothly on the actual polling day.

“Insya-Allah (God willing), we will see the readiness and eagerness to face the GE14 in our machinery.

“I have full faith in them that they will deliver what is expected from them and I believe we have the opportunity to win back Selangor,” he told the NSTP today.

Nadzari was commenting on NSTP’s exclusive front-page report on Sunday.

The report has stated that the tabling of the motion on the redelineation of electoral borders, initially scheduled for March 29, has been brought forward, indicating that Parliament will be dissolved either at the end of the month, or early next month to pave the way for GE14.

Meanwhile, Selangor Umno information chief Datuk Zein Isma Ismail said the dry run on March 17 would ensure their machinery understands their roles and responsibilities.

“We will be testing polling agents, logistics and all other related components. Should there be any issues, we need to rectify them accordingly.”

Zein also stressed on the importance of creating awareness among the public on the importance to cast their vote, which would determine the future of Malaysia and the next generation.

“We approach the public day and night to educate and create awareness on the need to vote during elections.

“Besides that, we are focused on addressing the five important pillars in the state, as mentioned by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak earlier.”

The five being water supply shortages, high cost of housing, skyrocketing taxes, uncollected rubbish, and polluted rivers which lead to widespread diseases.
