40,000 to hear unveiling of BN's manifesto at Axiata Stadium tonight

KUALA LUMPUR: Tens of thousands of people have packed the Axiata Stadium to witness the announcement of Barisan Nasional’s general election manifesto tonight.

Backed by a solid record of having fulfilled 99.4 per cent of pledges in the last five years, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is expected to rock the stadium with the most expansive manifesto before a crowd of 40,000.

Ahmad Lokman, 35, he had travelled from Kedah to here so that he could personally hear Najib unveil the manifesto, which was expected to be "bold" and "all-encompassing".

"I am one of those who have benefited from PR1MA (1Malaysia People's Housing Scheme) which means I am a beneficiary of Najib's policies.

“So I am here today to give my support to him. I am confident that he will fulfil his promises just like before," he said when met at the venue today.

Umno executive secretary Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh was reported as saying that the event carried a theme of “biru pilihanku” (blue is my choice).

He had said those attending the event could use the public transport and that Prasarana had agreed to extend the Light Rail Transit service to 1am.

K. Muthu, 28, a father of five, said he was grateful to the prime minister for making efforts to ease the cost of living.

Muthu said as seen in the setting up of the Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia and Klinik 1Malaysia, such moves had enabled his families and friends to save more on their expenses.

"Just imagine, you only need to pay RM1 for treatment and medication at Klinik 1Malaysia. This is almost unheard of before."
