I'm sad with the way opposition treating Dr M, says Kunan

KUALA LUMPUR: It is a pity that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is being ridden by DAP after the former has jumped ship from Barisan Nasional.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said this following the recent release of a controversial video of Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming making fun of Dr Mahathir during a ceramah (political talk).

When asked for comment on the shocking remark made by Nga, Tengku Adnan expressed sadness over the situation.

“We already know (that Dr Mahathir is being used by the opposition). I feel very sad for Dr Mahathir because he is being ridden by the opposition,” he told the press when met at a mosque ground breaking ceremony in Cheras here today.

The one minute-53 second video clip purportedly showed Nga speaking at a ceramah, saying that Dr Mahathir Mohamad didn’t have long to live.

Nga was heard telling his audience that the DAP would use Dr Mahathir and then “he can go and join the late (former Singapore premier) Lee Kuan Yew to play mahjong.”

He also sang a line from a classic Chinese song “Goodbye My Love” to bid Dr Mahathir’s “departure” after the Langkawi candidate has been used.

Nga also claimed that Lee Kuan Yew, who passed away in 2015, was waiting for Dr Mahathir “up there” to play mahjong and that he was still missing a player.

The DAP leader said the video was another slanderous attempt against him but declined to comment further.

On a separate issue, Tengku Adnan said Umno had yet to conclude it’s investigation on the status of party veteran Tan Sri Rais Yatim’s membership.

“We are still probing it under the committee which is currently observing all related matters. When this committee has concluded it’s investigation, they will inform me and I will take the next action.

“If he (Rais) crosses the line, we know how to do it (cross the line) too,” Tengku Adnan said.

Recently, two Umno veterans, former ministers Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and Tun Daim Zainuddin were axed from the party after the duo appeared at the opposition’s ceramah and were openly critical of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
