Despite being called mosquito party, Amanah continues to thrive

SHAH ALAM: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has pledged to perform and excel with flying colours despite being the “youngest” member in Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Its deputy secretary-general Abang Ahmad Kerdee Abang Masagus said the party, which was established only in 2015, was still in the midst of gathering opinions and ideas from its various leadership and grassroots level.

“Amanah holds on to this theory put forward by a researcher in 1965. In this theory, there are four stages that an organisation or a new party will face in order to be successful.

“Stage one is the forming, the second stage is the storming, stage three is the norming and the fourth stage is performing. Amanah acknowledges these stages. However, we are still at stage two.

“The party faced many challenges involving different ideas, opinions and feelings of everyone at every level.

“Hence, this convention is a platform for all of us to reflect ourselves and it is important for all of us to move forward together to achieve what we want for the party. Amanah will survive and thrive throughout these stages until the party perform with excellent," he said in his welcoming speech at the party's fourth National Convention 2019 here.

He said Amanah has been through a lot of episodes, including being called as “mosquito” party.

"We are not an ordinary ‘mosquito’ however. We managed to get to Putrajaya (government)," he said to the cheer of over 900 delegates.

He said the three-day convention would be carried out in a harmonious and transparent manner.

Abang Ahmad Kerdee also said Amanah was committed to make the theme for its convention – ‘Kestabilan Memacu Kemakmuran Bersama’ (Stability Drives Shared Prosperity) – as a platform and struggle to realise the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 launched by the government.

On the convention, he said it was the first time that the party's election process is being held and would see the posts of speaker, deputy speaker, two auditors and 27 steering committee members up for election.
