Azizulhasni escapes serious injury in crash in Poland

KUALA LUMPUR: World keirin champion Azizulhasni Awang escaped serious injury after crashing at the opening leg of the World Cup Series in Poland yesterday.

He made contact with Japan's Kazunari Watanabe on the final turn of the last lap in the keirin repecharge round.

Azizulhasni said on Instagram: “Unfortunately things did not go to plan as I was involved in a crash during my repecharge with Japanese rider Kazunari Watanabe.

"I got a superficial wound and a sprained ankle but I'll toughen up.

"Hopefully I can still be back on the bike for my individual sprint event."

Six years ago, the Terengganu-born rider suffered a serious injury when he crashed at the Manchester World Cup and a large wood splinter went through his leg.
