MFL offer advice to KFA on Akhyar's controversy

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kedah FA have been advised by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to look into three aspects concerning Akhyar Rashid’s move to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) before taking the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

MFL chief executive Kevin Ramalingam said KFA should look into the clauses of MFL’s constitution, FAM’s statutes, and also Akhyar’s contract.

“From there, they can find solutions and also take the right path concerning Akhyar.

“We have furnished them with relevant information but the final decision is in their hands,” said Kevin when asked about MFL’s meeting with KFA here yesterday.

“We did touch on the case (Akhyar and JDT) but it was not the main agenda today.

Kevin also confirmed that JDT can register Akhyar by using a temporary release letter.

“Only the FA of Malaysia (FAM) have the authority to issue a temporary release letter.

“JDT have already submitted his name to us for registration but he is now on the standby list.

“If everything is in order, Akhyar should be available for the season opening Charity Shield against Perak on Feb 2,” he added.

KFA have an option to file Akhyar’s case with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) instead of going to CAS.

KFA vice president Mohd Yusuri Yusof claimed that Kevin offered himself as a mediator if they decide to go to CAS, AIAC or Fifa.

“We will refer to the respective statutes before taking the next step,” he said.
