Team form key to Mamut's goalscoring prowess

KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu striker Ivan Mamut is confident he will find the back of the net if his teammates are firing on all cylinders against Philipplines' Stallion Laguna on Thursday.

The AFC Cup Group G encounter will be played in Kuala Terengganu and it will be the perfect opportunity for Mamut to break his duck in the competition.

The Croatian has netted 18 times in domestic competitions this season, though he has yet to score in the AFC Cup for the Turtles.

The 26-year-old also has the Malaysia Cup on his mind.

"I don't really set a target, I just want to enjoy my games, and if the team plays well, then I can score," said Mamut today.

"We've been doing so (playing well) in the last three-four months, that's why I've been scoring.

"I had some problems during the Bali United (AFC) game because I wanted to rest as there were more important matches to focus on, such as getting to the Malaysia Cup final.

"I think our chances of progressing in the Malaysia Cup are good."

Terengganu edged KL City 2-1 in their Malaysia Cup semi-final first leg in Cheras on Saturday and will host the City Boys for the return leg on Nov 3.

Meanwhile, KL City captain Akram Mahinan remains optimistic about their chances in the Malaysia Cup but is hoping to welcome Paulo Josue and Romel Morales back into the starting 11.

The duo have been sidelined due to suspension and injuries.

"It (duo's absence) affected our attacking line-up a lot," said Akram.

"We went through to the final before, we were in a similar situation, and we just need to focus and be prepared."
