ISAM skating into hot water?

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ice Skating Association of Malaysia (ISAM) could find themselves in hot water after allegations of foul play during the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games (KL2017) surfaced recently.

It is claimed that a national skater had received a gold medal, as part of the 3,000m short track speed skating relay team that won the event, despite being ineligible for the medal.

It is alleged that the skater was not selected by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) for the Sea Games after failing to do well in the selection process.

OCM secretary general Datuk Low Beng Choo confirmed that OCM are aware of the issue.

"Yes, we are aware and this was discussed at the OCM board meeting recently," said Beng Choo, when contacted today.

"I will also be discussing this matter with OCM independent disciplinary board chairman Datuk Seri Jaharberdeen Mohamad Yunoos soon.

"That is all I can comment on for now as we need to be fair to all the parties involved."

Malaysia emerged as the overall winners of the short track speed skating competition at KL2017 with a total haul of four gold and three bronze medals.
